Welcome to 52 ‘Til I do- the real talk wedding planning podcast where we, (your wedding planning besties) walk you through the steps of planning as if we were planning together for a year. This podcast has been long in the making and we are beyond excited to finally share it with you. But let us be clear, if "excited" isn't what you are feeling when thinking about wedding planning, you've come to the right place. We can't promise to make the wedding planning process stress free because, if we're honest, it likely won't be. However, we can promise that we are here to make it a bit easier.

Introducing Marryment

Before we dive into what you can expect from this podcast, let us first introduce ourselves. We are your hosts, Amethyst and Laura, from Marryment, a Chicago-based wedding planning company. Marryment proudly serves couples all across Chicago and the surrounding Chicago Suburbs including popular areas such as Schaumburg, Elmhurst, Naperville, Evanston, Joliet, Oak Park, Skokie, Barrington, Downers Grove and Northbrook, to name a few.

Laura, the founder of Marryment, first envisioned the company in 2017 while on her own wedding planning journey. She found herself mesmerized by the fast-paced environment of the wedding planning industry and took on roles as an officiant and caterer/bartender any chance she could to stay involved. In 2023, after appearing on season 7 of The Blox—the largest entrepreneurship competition on television—Laura found the perfect opportunity to take Marryment full-time.

Amethyst joined the team in 2024, bringing nine years of experience as a day-of coordinator, along with a passion for working closely with couples to create a joyful day that authentically reflects their love story.

What To Expect

52 ‘Til I Do is a 52 episode podcast series designed to help you answer the question: What should my wedding planning look like week over week?  This step by step, chronological guide for how to plan your wedding is designed to walk side-by-side with you as you plan your wedding. It is here to keep you organized and feeling confident.

52 episodes in 52 weeks, is the framework for a year long engagement, right? However, we recognize that many if not a majority of engagements aren't exactly a year. Regardless of how long your actual engagement is, this podcast is the information you need to know, in the order you need to know it so that you can pace out your own individual timeline. We will not only be delivering information in a theoretical capacity, but we will deliver actionable steps to take to check items off of your to do list. We’re going to wedding school!

Each Wednesday following the release of a brand new episode of the podcast, you will also be able to find a companion blog post going along with the episode where you can recap the episode and walk through the steps of the activity at your own pace.

The Wedding Planning Phases

The planning process will be broken into four phases, starting now with Phase One, or "as soon as you're ready" planning. The goal of this phase is to ultimately select your wedding venue, securing your wedding date. We call this the "as soon as you're ready" phase because it truly is whenever you're ready to start this journey. Before we dive into searching for a venue, we will walk you through five actionable tasks to complete with your partner. These tasks will become the anchors for your wedding planning journey, ultimately saving you time, money and potential heartache and stress. Regardless of where you are in your wedding planning journey when you start listening along with us, we highly encourage you to go through these foundational exercises.

Once you have gone through the foundational exercises, selected your wedding venue and secured your date, Phase One of planning is officially done! Now for a brief overview of what is to come–without overwhelming you (as we are dedicated to delivering information when you need it). 

• Phase Two of planning is when The Avengers will assemble…aka this is when you’ll assemble your expert vendor team. 
• Phase Three of planning is known as “the finer details”. This is when you will give all of The Avengers (your vendors) the details they need to know to beautifully execute your wedding day. In here we will also discuss the organization of any DIY elements you may bring into your day. 
• Finally, Phase Four is the final weeks leading up to your big day! There are some things that inevitably can’t happen until the month prior to your wedding, regardless of how long your engagement is. 

Our Question To You

What do you want? No, seriously. What do you want from your wedding? What do you want to remember? What experiences do you want your guests to have? This is a purely unique answer that will vary from couple to couple and individual to individual. There is no right or wrong answer here, and it is really the secret sauce that you will hear us speak about week over week. This is the something that will make your wedding unique and something special and meaningful to you.
